To spread awareness about the protection and cleanliness of water bodies on world Water Day, folk living, a social enterprise that aims promote local heritage and culture and strengthen sustainability in the village, along with Moira Boating took the initiative to clean the Molar backwater. The event was initiated by founder of Moira Boating. Vinni Fernandes who led the volunteers through the river.
The volunteers comprised Folk Living team, namely, Shreyas Diukar, Samradni kumbharjuvekar Shivanl Kumbharjuvekar, Neel Dicholkar, and Kirann Mayenkar. The team managed to collect more than 500 kilograms at mismanaged waste from the river. Speaking about the event, co-founder of Folk Living Shreyas Diukar said: "This was an extraordinary experience for the entire team. Vinni Is an Inspiration to many young people like us who love to promote village heritage truly, Thanks to Vinni for lending us his kayaks to collect all the garbage. Now that the river Is cleaner, we request tourists and people of Moira to act responsibly and not to litter it. Save our beautiful water bodies'. Through Moira Boating, Vinni Fernandes organizes kayaking trips in the Moira backwaters while Folk Living curates raw cultural experiences to showcase the villages of Goa. Together they have collaborated to show a different side of Moira to tourists and enthusiasts. Neel Dicholkar of Folk Living added, "I have indulged in many cleaning activities of late, but this particular cleanliness/awareness campaign on World Water Day was certainly an ex-traordinary experience.
